Tools Needed

  • Driver Drill with #2 Phillips Bit
  • Flathead Screwdriver
  • Small Screwdriver (Regular or Phillips)
  • Needle Nose Pliers

Steps

Door Adjustment

0:24 | Step 1: Locate door hinges and remove the hinge covers

0:39 | Step 2: Loosen all the screws that mount the hinges to both the door and the unit.

0:46 | Step 3: Carefully adjust the door in and out and side to side, taking note of the door leveling and any gaps.

0:55 | Step 4: Retighten screws loosened in Step 2.

1:09 | Step 5: Test door for proper sealing. Repeat Steps 2 – 4 as needed.

1:16 | Step 6: Once the floor seals properly and is level, reinstall the hinge covers and return the unit to service.

Door Reversal (Hinging Swap for Standard Doors)

1:25 | Step 1: Locate the door hinges and remove the covers in the middle of the hinge.

1:42 | Step 2: Remove screws that mount the hinges to the unit.

1:55 | Step 3: Flip the door 180 degrees and reinstall the unit using the same hardware that was removed previously.

2:09 | Step 4: Test the door for proper sealing, then reinstall the hinge covers and return the unit to service. (The FWE decal can be flipped and moved to the top of the flipped door – Contact the FWE Service Department if a new decal is required.)

Door Reversal (Hinging Swap for Doors with Spring Kit)

2:19 | Step 1: Locate the door hinges and remove the covers in the middle of the hinge, exposing the spring.

2:35 | Step 2: On top of the spring, locate the keeper pin. Using a small screwdriver, relieve tension from the spring while removing the keeper pin.

2:45 | Step 3: Once the keeper pin is removed, relieve pressure from the spring.

2:52 | Step 4: Using a flat screwdriver, pry the spring out of the holder. This will expose the screws so the door can be removed from the unit.

3:02 | Step 5: Remove the screws that mount the hinges to the unit.

3:16 | Step 6: Flip the door 180 degrees and reinstall it on the unit using the same hardware previously removed.

3:28 | Step 7: Pretension the spring on the hinge using a small screwdriver inserted into the hole where the keeper pin goes.

3:36 | Step 8: Set top door spring tension by turning the collar on the spring 3 holes and inserting the keeper pin so that the tension holds it in place.

3:56 | Step 9: Set the bottom door spring tension by turning the collar on the spring 2 holes and inserting the keeper pin so that the tension holds it in place.

Hinge Replacement (Standard Door)
